Blanketman sweat and toil in a city called Manchester. They drink in pubs, eat supermarket meal deals and play musical instruments.
At only a year old, Blanketman have begun to work their way into Manchester’s behemoth of a music scene, recently playing their third gig with Manchester Fall Veterans Brix & the Extricated. Since January 2018 Blanketman have played 18 shows and counting in some of Manchester’s most famous venues and are winning over audiences with their unique brand of “restless-leg” post-punk, in one show, being joined on stage by The Fall legend Steve Hanley.
Drawing influences from a wide range of bands spanning the last 50 years, Blanketman have been compared in sound to bands such as Gang of Four, The Velvet Underground, Joy Division and The B-52’s. Drummer Ellie has recently been described as a “Mad post-punk Reni” by No Fun Magazine and the band has been described by Louder Than War as “local favourites for the future”.
The band’s most recent double A- side single “Sick & Tired/Flip It Over” received rave reviews
